The lifespan of your night guard depends on your individual habits and how much pressure you put on your teeth at night. For most people, a soft night guard (ideal for light grinding or clenching) typically lasts anywhere from 6 months up to 2 years. If you’re a heavier grinder, a hard night guard—crafted from durable, high-quality materials—can last 3 to 5 years, and sometimes even longer with excellent care.
To get the most from your night guard, we recommend cleaning it daily with a dissolvable orthodontic cleanser tablet (easily found at chemists and supermarkets) and storing it in a protective case when not in use. Keep it away from extreme heat to prevent warping. If you ever notice your guard starting to feel loose, show signs of wear, or just not fitting like it used to, it’s time for a replacement.
